Brian Somers, USTAR

Brian joined USTAR as managing director in May 2017.  Brian came to USTAR from the Utah Department of Heritage & Arts (DHA), where he served as the deputy director. At DHA, he oversaw management, operations, policy, and legislative issues for the department and its six divisions.

 

Clark Cahoon, Governor's Office of Economic Development

Clark manages the Technology Commercialization & Innovation Program (TCIP) at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. There he oversees the competitive grant process which awards teams who have developed new and innovative technologies throughout the state to commercialize and go to market.

 

Shawn Marchant, SMARTAX Pro

Shawn has been advises clients regarding federal and state tax credits and incentives, primarily in the areas of research credits, domestic production activities deduction, and lobbying expense analysis. His experience ranges from initial scoping through project implementation, project management, and audit support.

 

Mark Bonham, Stoel Rives LLP

Mark serves as an Of Counsel attorney in the Salt Lake City office, focusing his practice on providing corporate legal counsel to technology, life sciences, software, internet-based, electronics, venture capital, and investment banking companies and emerging businesses.
